Adult Ed. IS Spring Meeting: Saturday, March 3rd

Adult Ed. IS Spring Meeting 2006

The Adult Education Special Interest Group invited all interested members to a morning movie and continental breakfast on Saturday, January 28, 2006, 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. We watched "Chasing Freedom" and participated in a discussion about issues facing adult immigrants led by MSDE ESL Specialist Karen Gianninoto. The event was held at Central Library of Howard County Public Library. The movie had a profound impact and led to an excellent discussion.

Adult Ed. Interest Section Resources

  • Practitioner Toolkit: Working with Adult English Language Learners: It provides a variety of materials to help practitioners meet the language and literacy development needs of the ELL students they serve. These
    include responses to Frequently Asked Questions, a first-day orientation guide, lesson plans, research-to-practice papers on English language and literacy learning, and an annotated list of English and Spanish language assessments in use. It is developed by the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL)
    and the Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL)
